I figure that if I am starting a page based around podcasts, then it is only fair to start with the holy grail of them all: The Joe Rogan Experience. Due to its broad spectrum of topics and colorful collection of guests, the JRE has content that can meet anybody’s interests and curiosities, as well as provide anybody with entertainment through comedy and story-telling. Joe Rogan, the podcast’s host, uses the comfortable stage presence from his career as a comedian to casually maneuver through conversations with his guests, pulling out their best stories and most powerful insights. Considering the show has over 1600 episodes — as well as over 100 episodes on its sequel, JRE MMA — this list is not exhaustive, but it contains some of the best stories and people I have encountered through the JRE. I think you will find that this small list is as engaging as it is representative of the podcast’s diverse content. So here are some of my top picks from the famous Joe Rogan Experience.
Glenn Villeneuve
If you are familiar with Glenn, it is likely due to his appearance on the reality T.V. show, “Life Below Zero,” where he shared his primitive lifestyle with the show’s viewers. From hiking, survival in nature, and all the way to human philosophy, Glenn and Joe’s conversation explores the former’s unusual journey to the Alaskan wilderness and all of the lessons that he learned along the way.
Jocko Willink
Living in America, most of us are far removed from the harsh realities of warfare; however, Navy Seals, like Jocko Willink, spent their entire careers preparing for and fighting through such realities. Through his earnest depiction of leadership on the battlefield, Jocko provides a perspective for those of us that are not familiar with the trials and tribulations in war-torn nations, like Iraq and Afghanistan; additionally, Jocko explains how the same leadership concepts that he applied during his career as a Navy Seal officer also apply in the business world and throughout every day civilian life.

Jesse Itzler
When you picture a successful entrepreneur at the top of the business world, you might imagine a stressed-out, cold-hearted, and greedy man wearing a sharp suit. Through daring adventures and a stoic lifestyle, Jesse Itzler bucks this stereotype with his enlightening experiences from living with monks, wild athletic challenges, and eye-opening lifestyle philosophies.

Dr. Rhonda Patrick
For years now, modern American culture has called for female involvement in the STEM field, and Rhonda Patrick exemplifies one of the overachieving responses to this call. Whether it be the microbiome, micronutrient deficiencies, fasting, or brain health, Dr. Patrick’s exquisite background in organic chemistry, biochemistry, and nutrition allows her to navigate through the weeds of human physiology and present her findings to the public. Her prowess is evidenced by her many appearances on the JRE, as well as her research history with scientific star Bruce Ames and her own successful podcast FoundMyFitness.

Francis Ngannou
Nowadays, most people know Francis Ngannou as the UFC Heavyweight Champion, with his overwhelming size and mutant strength being the hallmarks of his fight game; however, most do not know the incredible story behind this man’s rise to the top of MMA. Starting in an impoverished village in Cameroon, Ngannou outlines his journey to the Western World, leaving Rogan amazed and at a loss for words multiple times throughout the show. If there was ever a podcast to remind us Americans of how privileged our lives are, it’s this one.
